Tattoos?

Of you ladies who regularly read my blog, there's a fair age range. Some of you, like myself, are teenagers and haven't yet hit the age when you can legally have tattoos, while the rest of you can. I know it's a fairly controversial topic - I have friends who are super against any tattoos due to the permanence and stories about people who regret it forever, but I also have friends who are planning to get inked as soon as they turn eighteen. I wanted to write this post, not because I'm planning to get a tattoo, but I've been hearing a lot about it lately and am curious as to where you guys stand.

Personally, I don't really like large tattoos. I see some alternative models who suit sleeves or whole bodies full of really bold tattoos - but it's really not a look that I like (not like I have anything against people who do it, it's just not my thing!). However, I've seen numerous pictures circling Pinterest or other social networks of small, dainty tattoos which are becoming more and more of a trend.

Here's some pictures to show examples of ones that I think are pretty or cute, I'm really interested to hear your opinion on the subject. Do you have/want any tattoos? Or do you know someone who's had it done before? Let me know in the comments, thanks for reading guys! ^^

  1. I prefer those washable tattoo, lol. I don't think I can stand the pain of getting inked permanently @_@ But the simple small ones are quite cute :)

  2. Personally, on my self , I would only do symbolic tattoos and only after something special - like the birth of a child, finishing my degree and that kinda of stuff.
On others? it's not my business since it's not my body :/ Personally I would think a lot before doing it.

    Take care*

    1. I think tattoos that symbolise something are really nice, your ideas are cute Diana^^ Though tattoos of something like boyfriends that might not last are never a good idea haha^^ Thanks for reading! x

  3. I personally don't think I'd ever get a tattoo. I'm not brave enough hehe It's not like I'm against tattoos or anything, but I think getting whole body tattoos can look questionable when you become elderly lol
    Thanks for sharing <3

  4. I think the small tattoos are cute, but I don't see them as being any different than doodling on your wrist with a Sharpie. I got my first tattoo just before my 20th birthday; I had the idea and design set in my heart since before I was 14, so I was confident I wanted it. It's about the size of my palm and it's on my back, so it's easy to cover up.

I look at meaningful tattoos more favorably than those that are done for the sake of what's trendy. I guess I'm a little old school, haha.

    1. Yeah I see what you mean, I think it's better for young people to use temporary ones or pens, especially if it's in order to follow fashion trends^^ I think symbolic ones can be really sweet, but I'm not a huge fan of having names really:s Thanks for reading Terri! x

  5. I can appreciate the beauty of a well done tattoo, but for myself personally, I contemplated getting a large one done on the side of my ribs, winding upwards across my shoulder (I really wanted something feminine and something to me that represented an understated beauty, or something in bloom, so I at the time, went with a cherry blossom tree), however I never cemented that thought, and now I would not even give a tattoo another thought. It's just not for me, and I'm so glad I didn't just go out and get it done. I like the smaller tats, they're cute and very dainty, however regardless of the size of one, they're still permanent and they cost lots of money haha. I'm too cheap and I hate unnecessary pain. :3

    1. That sounds pretty, but I would be scared of the permanence~ I think little tattoos are not too bad price wise, I would pay more for a well done one! But I do see where you're coming from, thanks for sharing your story Anna! ^^ x

  6. I feel like tattoos should mean something. I have a tattoo in mind that i would love to get, but my husband hates tattoos. He feels like i'll regret it, which I highly doubt i will because the tattoo that I have created for myself is of my own creation and it has a lot of meaning to me. I do like small "trendy" tattoos, but for a permanent tattoo, i would suggest getting a tattoo that has meaning behind it.

    1. That's a shame, if it's a tattoo that you've thought about a lot and wanted a while, I don't think you would regret it~ especially if it's a design of significance to you! Hopefully in the future you can persuade him to like the idea hehe^^ Thanks for reading Evelyn! x

  7. I think tattoos should mean something personally for you. It should not be a symbol just because it´s cute or trendy - no it should be something which you could relate to so in the end you would not regret it after you got inked.

I personally want a tattoo - i would like to have a infinite sign in which the word dream stands - but only on my scar on my left ankle - xD the scar is too ugly thats why :D

    1. I think so too, trends go so fast these days, it would be hard to find a design that would always be in fashion haha>.< Your idea sounds cute though, it would be a good way to cover up a scar or something~ just as longs as it's not too big! Thanks for reading Minhee! x

  8. I personally don't like tattoos and can't understand people who let their whole body get inked @_@ It looks so painful too! I think the tattoos you picked out are really cute tho and not that big, so they're totally fine and I like them too ^^;; I think if you're ever getting a tattoo you should go for something personal and small :D

    1. I'm not brave enough to even get a small one because of the pain, I don't know how people can sit there for hours to have them done! *-* I like these ones too, but they won't be cute and fashionable forever right! Thanks for reading Mindy^^ x

  9. I absolutely love tattoos! Well...everything apart from facial ones I think! For myself though, I am far too indecisive for any and I would be too worried that I would regret it in the future. Haha!

But I agree with you, these teeny tattoos are very cute.
I'm of the opinion that, if you want it and like it, go for it, no matter of symbolism. HOWEVER, the artist should be fully qualified and follow all the necessary hygiene procedures, a few of my friends got tattoos on the cheap and you can REALLY tell. It's terrible to skimp on something that you will have for the rest of your life, right?

I love looking at others' tattoos though, and asking people about them - most people will be happy that you are interested in their work and be eager to explain. However, I am always conscious of staring - my brother has brightly-coloured tattoo sleeves and he says that a lot of people stare so much and it gets a little creepy sometimes. But then, that's one of the consequences I suppose!

Great post, a great debating topic!
I'm waiting for you to turn 18 and be COVERED in them! Hah :P

    1. Haha, I think facial ones are a step too far! I'm glad you have an opposing opinion, everyone seems to be against tattooing for fashion even if they're tiny ones. I've seen some disasters when it comes to cheap tattoos though, I would definitely pay good money for even a little one, in fear of it going wrong or flaking off>.<

I'm so happy you liked the post Holly~ I'm eighteen in six months so not too long until I can get a massive dragon all up my back haha^^ Thanks for reading! x

  10. My brother got himself a tattoo when he was on high school and he added two more after he got married. He likes tattoos and so do I, but my mom is super against tattoos, she got so upset when she found out my brother got himself one. My brother knows how our mom is against it so he never really 'promoted' tattoos to me but he liked asking my friends who came over whether they wanted a tattoo or not. He really likes it. Oh wait I forgot I think he used to own a tattoo business with some friends!

I wish to get one small tattoo on my arm or my back, but the pain scares me I don't think I will be able to do it and I absolutely have no idea what kind of thing I want to be stamped on my body for life.

    1. Awh that's a shame, I don't know if my parents would be really against it or not~ I don't think they would be too bothered if it was small and discrete. Thanks for reading! x
