Korean Skincare Secrets

Have you ever wondered how your favourite Kpop idols or Korean actresses always seem to have such glowing and flawless skin? I've always been totally jealous, but it's becoming easier for those of us not living in Asia to pick up some of the products and techniques that are popular there. I did a little bit of research into the subject, and I'm going to share a few of the things that I think you might all be interested in! Let me know what your skin and routine is like in the comments, and perhaps even recommend some of your favourite products^^ Thanks for reading!

1. Number of products used

First of all, I'm sure that like me, many of you have skincare routines consisting of three products. I cleanse, tone and moisturize my skin every morning and evening, thinking that I didn't need anything else. But many Korean women use between five and ten products every day! Usually this will include: Cleansing Oil, Foam Cleanser, Toner, Serum, Cream (often more than one) and sun protection. Sheet masks are also becoming more frequently used, as well as sleep packs.

2. Attitudes

Part of the reason Korea's skincare is so advanced, is that there is a much higher demand for it. Where I live, more girls would choose to buy makeup instead of high quality skincare. The theory is that the better your skin, the less makeup you need~ and the more naturally beautiful you are the better! This makes more sense to me, and now I question why I buy so much makeup.

3. Ingredients

I found that on multiple sources, it is said that Korea is around ten times ahead of the UK and US in terms of skincare. Another reason for this is that they use lots of new ingredients that we don't have. An example being snail slime, which my Mum was horrified at when I got a sample of some with a Yesstyle order one time! Because of this, you can actually find that some high street brands in Korea have products that rival the expensive high end ones in the UK.

4. Diet

Korean women tend to avoid very salty foods to keep skin healthy, as well as drinking plenty of water every day. It's said also that spicy food isn't good for the skin - but these things are generally known all around the world.

17th Birthday Haul + First Ever Giveaway Winner!

I'm super sorry for not getting this post out to you sooner, but there were some issues and events that caused the delay:P The worst being the rate at which it's getting dark in the UK. I don't get back from College until 5.00, and by then it's already too dark to take decent pictures>_< Secondly, I went to the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham on the Sunday after my birthday, and I wanted to wait so I could include the things I bought there in this post(: There's quite a lot of things to show you now, so I hope you guys can forgive me hehe, and still enjoy the post. Thanks for reading!

Topshop Dress - £46.00
This is the only picture I have of me wearing this, but it's quite simple so I'm sure you get the idea. My favourite part of it is the colour and the neckline, both of which you can see^^ The bottom is just like a normal skater skirt and comes above my knees. It's quite pricey for a plain dress, but since it was my birthday I decided to splash out because the cut is so flattering and the material is super nice.

New Look Coat - £40.00
Many of you saw my last post, which included a furry white coat. It's been quite a big trend this winter in the UK, and I really wanted one for myself. I found that a lot of them did not suit me at all, primarily due to my tiny physique lol. But I tried this one on and really liked it, it's super cute and very cosy too!

Crop Jumper and Miniskirt from the Clothes Show

Both these items came from the Clothes Show, the jumper is super fluffy and it's cropped so it looks great with anything high waisted. Also, it only cost me £5:O The miniskirt cost me about £15, and I love the pattern on it so much! There were so many designs to choose from and it took me ages to pick hehe~ but I'm glad I got this one in the end(:

Jumper - Clothes Show
Originally this was supposed to cost £8, but I managed to get it for £5 because the stall lady was very kind^^ I really love the daisy print on it, and it looks super cute with denim jeans or skirts. It's not that thick, but I like that I can wear it through into Spring as well(:

Dress - Clothes Show
This Paisley print dress was one of the things I was unsure about getting. The bad thing about the Clothes Show is that you can't really try things on (though some women were, just in the open*-*). It was only £15 and it's a nice quality dress, so I just bought it. When I tried it on at home it fits me fine, the length is a bit longer than I would have liked, but with heels I think I can get away with it!

Jelly Pong Pong Concealer Palette and Lip Crayon
Has anyone else heard of this brand before? I knew it, but no one that I speak to does:P They had a really good deal at the stall where you could get four items for five pounds. So I gave two to my friend as part of her birthday present and kept these two for myself. I really like the concealer, and the lip crayon is a nice formula, but I'm not super keen on the colour (maybe I can wear it more in the summer though).

Miffy Slippers
How cute are these?! My best friend knows me well, she bought me these alongside a few other smaller presents. They're are seriously super soft on the inside, and I wear them everyday now^-^ I've no idea where they're from or how much they were so sorry guys!

I also got a few other things, one of which is this laptop that I'm writing to you now from! I can't include all the little things, and I have some money left so I'm going to look into buying more Korean Cosmetics or something.

Giveaway Winner!

Now what you've all been waiting for. I was quite overwhelmed by the response that I got from this giveaway, and I'm really touched by how kind all your comments were! I want to thank all you followers, new and old, for your support and encouragement~ I hope that you can continue to do so in the future, then I can host bigger and better giveaways for you all^-^

The winner of the Etude House Pink Play Party Mask Set is *Rhia*, congratulations! I've sent her an Email, and if I don't get a response by Saturday I'll have to pick a new winner.

Once again thank you all for participating, I wish I could have had more winners! But I'll keep planning more giveaways and fun posts for you all! ^-^
